montgomery county police are trying to solve a shooting that left one man in critical condition. police say a homeowner got into an argument with a man and a woman in the 1100 block of good hope drive in silver spring last night. during the fight the homeowner shot the man who then drove himself to the hospital. the homeowner was also hurt in the fight. he is expected to be okay. montgomery county police are also trying to solve the mystery of a clarksbergman who died while in police custody. yesterday afternoon office arrested 39-year-old nathan jones who was reportedly being violent and erratic. he resisted arrest but officers finally got him under control with pepper spray. a short time later, jones started to lose consciousness and was pronounced dead at a nearby. >> 6:06. the nationals are coming back home tied one game apiece against the cardinals. game two was a rough one for nats' pitchers. cards crushed the nats 12-4. after the game the team was ready to get on a plane and be

seeing an impact to mark service north of baltimore as well. as for amtrak, the 448 acela express to boston as cancelled, the 5:30 northeast regional was cancelled also the express to new york. that gate is listed as closed. we have the 6:30 regional to newark cancelled so we're seeing big delays, big cancellations and inconveniences to travelers headed on amtrak points north from union station this morning. we did speak to a commuter who had a 9:30 meeting in new york city. he looked up at the board here and saw his train was not going to be leaving and so he's scrambling to try to figure out another way to get to that meeting this morning. mark train also points north of baltimore impacted. they have crews working on the situation. we'll update you later on in the show. megan mcgrath, news 4. back to you. controversial ads supporting israel now on display in some metro stations. yesterday the transit agency put up the ads which are paid for by

the american freedom defense initiative. they compare muslim extremists to savages. metro resisted displaying those posters because it was concerned they could trigger a violent backlash. a judge ruled the ads must go up or metro would violate the aidi's first amendment rights. >> i will not sacrifice my freedom of speech. it's a ridiculous premise and utterly unamerican. >> the atmosphere ads are also in new york city subway stations. another death is linked to the meningitis outbreak. the centers for disease control says at least 105 people have been sickened by the rare fungal infection. the death toll stands at nine. two of those were in maryland and virginia. health officials link the outbreak to steroid shots used for back pain. the cdc expects the number of people to continue to rise. >> the incubation is rather long, up to a month, so we

expect new cases to be discovered around the country for the next several weeks, i'm afraid. >> symptoms include fever, severe headache, stiff neck, nausea and the inability to maintain balance. this form of meningitis is not contagious. pepco and its union workers reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract avoiding a strike. the union's full membership still has to vote on that, neither side providing details on the new deal but the union president is recommending members approve it. a hotel and hundreds of apartments and shops coming to downtown rockville. montgomery county officials announced a $4 million grant for the project. the 14 story building will go up on a parking lot on the former site of the rockville mall. it will house a cambria suites hotel. the county and developer still have to replace the parking slots before the project can move forward. the project is expected to take two years to complete. now to the race for virginia's u.s. senate seat.

he pled guilt back in june to bank fraud and campaign finance violations. he is required to be truthful with authorities and disclose his personal finances. the u.s. attorney's office is not commenting on the reason for the hearing. brown still faces up to a year in prison. american airlines ceo makes an admission his company messed up. cnbc's courtney reagan has that. courtney, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. the ceo of american airlines is acknowledging it's been a rough few weeks for passengers but he said the carrier is working through its issues. american, which is currently in bankruptcy, saw its on-time performance drop to 59% last month. rivals like delta, sweflt and u.s. airways were all above 85%. the airline has blamed delays on pilots filling out maintenance requests amid a contract dispute. last week seats came loose on three separate flights. with a month to go before we head to the polls several companies are rolling out election-themed pr stunts.

as we move through the day today. here's a look at what's left on radar. you can see those showers really breaking up down to the south, just a few little light sprinkles left around quantico, around fredericksburg and up around waldorf up to the north i-95. so here it is, your future weather. at 9:00 a.m. today, a partly cloudy sky west, more clouds off to the east and then we're going to be in and out of the cloud cover today. so by afternoon mixture of clouds and sunshine. but about 5 degrees higher than we were yesterday. we'll get up to 60 degrees. now, that's still below average for us and still feeling a lot like november. what happens on wednesday is that ahead of the next weather front we'll get a chance to warm up and as we do, we'll hit a high temperature of 70 degrees. i don't think we're going to have any rain either with that front when icomes through so a dry front. that's going to allow our temperatures to go up and down over the next couple of days. it's up for wednesday and then it's back down for the remainder of the week and the weekend.

back up as you'll see. so feeling like november today, 57 to 60 degrees. for your evening, chilly, a warm jacket needed at 48 to 54 degrees. here's a look at your 4-day forecast. from 60 today to 70 tomorrow. there's the down at the end of the week and back up for the weekend with a high of 66 to 75 degrees. well, checking on an accident right now if you're traveling inbound 66. as you make your way towards the dulles toll road you'll find a multi-vehicle accident in the area. chopper 4 is on the scene and here's what's happening. your going to see a shoulder lane blocked on both your left and right shoulder lane. travel lanes are open but just be careful as you travel on i-66 just because of the delays in that area. heading over to 50, traveling 50 inbound in maryland really slow from the beltway all the way to new york avenue. that's where your delays are. we'll check travel speeds right now. as you make your way traveling on route 50 heading from the beltway to 295, you're at about 22 miles per hour. this is a live look at 410.

and again, those delays continue all the way to new york avenue. april, over to you. just in, an update on breaking news. the power outage causing big delays on amtrak. megan mcgrath is live with more. >> reporter: good morning, aaron. we just found out a little bit more about the power situation that's causing all of these problems. apparently they have downed power lines south of aberdeen and the biggest impact we're seeing is with amtrak service to points north. so folks here from union station who are headed to new york city and boston, we've seen a number of cancellations this morning. the 6:30 northeast regional to newark was cancelled. the 7:00 a.m. acela express to boston is cancelled. we've also seen the acela to new york city, the express, that cancelled this morning as well. should also mention for mark train folks, if you're going to points north of baltimore, aberdeen, perryville, those locations, we are seeing an impact there as well. again, lines down south of aberdeen.

they do have power crews on the scene working on the situation but they're not there yet. talked to one guy who's got a 9:30 meeting in the big apple and he's not going to make it. >> well, we showed up here early for the train and they made the announcement that everything northbound, nothing is moving north or south and later they basically came back and said the train was cancelled. so i had a meeting with a client up in new york city at 9:30 and that just isn't going to happen. >> reporter: so a rough commute this morning for folks taking amtrak to places like new york city and boston. this is going to cause a problem for a while yet. they're still working on that power outage. reporting live from union station, megan mcgrath, news 4. back to you in the studio. >> 6:54 now. both the nationals and orioles are tied up in their division series after winning a thrilling game, one the nats struggled in game two. the cardinals pounded the nats pitching staff. the series is tied up one game apiece. game three is 1:00 p.m. tomorrow at nats park.

ed win jackson will pitch for the nats. chris carpenter will take the mound for the cardinals. don't expect the orioles to fade away. they beat the yankees last night in their american league division series. the 3-2 victory evened the series at one game apiece. the teams will play again tomorrow night in new york. two maryland state troopers are under investigation for reportedly asking yankees players for autographs during a game. the two reportedly asked derek jeter and nick swisher for their signatures during the ninth inning. they were assigned to provide securityround the yankees dugout. state police officials said they are looking into the instance department and remind the troopers t to act professionally during the games. the cold weather has a lot of people looking for ways to keep warm and that is how a kitten got himself into a pretty tight spot. the 3-week-old kitten was hiding in a car's engine come part meant. firefighters banged on the engine and the kitten came out
